Outside of London
We recommend you find a solution to your circumstances in your home area. London has an acute lack of emergency and hostel accommodation. If you come to London without accommodation, you could easily end up sleeping rough. Try the following numbers and sites for advice:
- Your local council's housing department - you may be eligible for immediate housing
- www.citizensadvice.org.uk
- Shelter’s free housing advice line on 0808 800 4444
- www.homelessuk.org
In London
If you have housing it is best to do everything possible to keep it. Finding somewhere affordable to live in London is very difficult. There are support services available that can advise you on how to keep hold of your current accommodation. You can find details of these services and many other services for homeless people in London at:
www.homelesslondon.org.uk
If you are street homeless in London you will need an assessment by an outreach team or someone at a day centre as hostel accommodation can only be accessed by a referral from an approved agency.
Outreach teams make contact with people sleeping on the streets of London. Broadway’s outreach teams work in Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, The City of London and at Heathrow Aiport.
A day centre can provide you with details of what options are available to you, depending on your circumstances and support needs. Broadway’s day centre is located off Goldhawk Road in Shepherd’s Bush. For details of other day centres in London, visit:
If you are a Broadway client please speak to your support worker about the services available to you.
