Being involved has given me confidence

In the last year, over 450 clients have been formally involved in planning, delivering or evaluating Broadway’s work.

This might be attending a meeting, tidying up a hostel garden, or helping to review a new policy. We value the ideas of our clients and want to support as many as possible to play an active role in how Broadway works.

"Being involved has given me new confidence."

says one client who has organised client trips out of London, helped to run workshops, and attended Listening Lunches to give ideas about our policies.

"The benefits were brilliant for me as if you asked me when I first moved into Broadway I would have hid somewhere and told whoever to go away but since taking part I have been able to help out as a volunteer. It has been good to help other people."

Other clients have helped interview candidates for jobs at our hostels and housing projects.

"Your own perceived view of being homeless and unemployed is altered totally."

said one client member of the panel. Clients receive training so they can take part.

"The training is so comprehensive it makes it easy to walk into the job with confidence and put into practice all that you have learned."

Many clients most rewarding experience has been helping Broadway with recruitment.

"The other members of the panel really supported me, and listened to all my suggestions. The final decision was a decision that we came to together. It was brilliant."

Being involved has allowed me to expand my horizons by doing something positive with an end result.
