Chris in the Broadway's Outreach Team met Patrick in December when he was sleeping rough in the City. He had been living with his sister for a number of years, but after her death, he was no longer allowed to stay at the flat. He went to stay with his niece for a while but had to move out after months of suffering domestic violence from his nephew, who regularly beat him.
With no other family in London and nowhere else to go, at the age of 75, Patrick found himself sleeping on the streets in the freezing cold.
Chris and his colleagues quickly got Patrick out of the cold and into an emergency bed while they worked on a long term solution.
They contacted one of Patrick's relatives living in Leicester , who agreed that he could live with them. Chris arranged his travel, accompanied him to the station and arranged for his relatives to pick him up at the other end.
Within two weeks of meeting Patrick, Chris and the team had successfully moved him off the streets and reconnected him with his family.
