Measuring the Impact of Broadway’s Healthy Living Centre for Homeless People
October 2006
This research was conducted by Broadway in partnership with Civis Consulting. It evaluated Broadway's Healthy Living Centre based in Shepherds Bush. It included a service user questionnaire, completed by 71 clients, and a series of 19 interviews with Broadway's health staff, on site practitioners, local partners and statutory agencies.
Findings from the research highlighted the positive impact of having a dedicated health service for homeless people within the local community:
- Over 1,400 engaged in the health services provided at the Broadway Centre over a four year period
- 40% of the people accessing these services were sleeping rough
- Service users were unlikely to access other health services and had limited knowledge of the types of services available outside of the Healthy Living Centre.
