Broadway say that no one should be homeless. Real Lettings, one of Broadways social enterprise businesses, is one of the services playing a valuable part in our work towards achieving this vision. Working with staff at Broadways hostels and supported housing as well as local authortities in London, Real Lettings moves people into affordable private sector properties in London and supports them in their tenancies to ensure the tenant succeeds in managing and maintaining their new home.

Broadway has been managing properties and supporting people in housing for 25 years. This means we understand the challenges people on benefits face and we also know what what it is like to be a landlord. Real Lettings works hard to ensure that both our tenants and our landlords are supported equally.

Why the need for Real Lettings?

Real Lettings was developed in response to the large shortage of social housing (council or housing association) available to people who are homeless or living in temporary/supported accommodation. Most people in these situations, unless they have hig support needs, will not be offered social housing and so have nowhere to move on to. Real Lettings creates opportunities for people to move into quality and affordable homes in the private sector without the requirement for the upfront rent or deposit that is usually expected.

Real Lettings helps kickstart a new stage of a persons journey to full independance, giving them a platform where they can build self confidence, save money and establish a credible landlord reference for when they later want to move on from their Real Lettings property.

Real Lettings already works with private landlords across London, many of whom want to use their properties to help give a person a step up in life. We provide those landlords with a low risk and low maintenance way to achieve a consistant and risk free income on their properties.
