Broadway has responded to the Government’s 2008 Drugs Strategy Consultation, which sought views from drug users, families, practitioners, and other agencies about how to best achieve progress with drug prevention, treatment and harm minimisation within our communities.
Broadway has extensive experience of working with vulnerable adult drug users, providing a range of specialist services and working closely with other agencies to support our clients with drug related support needs. Broadway is therefore extremely well placed to respond to this consultation and welcomed the chance to contribute to the strategy. We consulted with service managers and clients in forming our response, which focuses on the questions from the consultation document which are most relevant to our client group.

Routes into London’s homelessness services: the experiences of A8 nationals

Date: 16th October 2007 This report report, funded by the Ashden Trust, explores the experiences of 32, A8 nationals accessing single homelessness services in London. The report explores the expectations of A8 nationals before arriving in the UK and their experiences of seeking work, accommodation and support in the UK. The research follows Homeless Link’s quantitative survey about the number of A8 migrants accessing homelessness services (2006).
The report includes a summary of existing information about homelessness amongst A8 nationals and results from qualitative interviews with the 32 research participants. Both the summary and full reports include recommendations for the British Government, the EU, Embassies of A8 countries and homelessness agencies developed by Steering Group which included representatives from agencies working with A8 nationals, Homeless Link and the Ashden Trust.
