CLEARING HOUSE
The Clearing House provides and co-ordinates the lettings service for the accommodation provided by housing associations under the Government's Homelessness and Housing Support Directorate (HHSD). Its task is to match homeless people, who meet the HHSD criteria, to suitable accommodation in a pool of around 4 000 move-on homes. It does this by:
- Maintaining and managing a computerised waiting list, and seeking appropriate referrals for this list from the Outreach Teams.
- Collecting information on clients at the point of referral and using it in allocating properties to clients and for monitoring purposes.
- Keeping computerised records of all units in management and those in development, along with details of all RSI tenants and tenancies.
- Making allocations to vacancies in funded units, matching the details of the vacancies with appropriate clients on the waiting list and posting information on voids on our website for use by people making referrals.
The Clearing House is at the heart of a network of partnerships, which include the Homelessness and Housing Support Directorate, the Housing Corporation, housing associations and homelessness agencies.

CHAIN (Combined Homelessness And Information Network)
CHAIN is a database containing details of individuals, assessments of their needs, contacts and interventions. It is compiled by agencies in London that work with those rough sleeping or engaging in other street activities that cause concern in communities and need a welfare response. The information is gathered to enable agencies to liaise effectively to deliver services to individuals whose lifestyles make it complex to organise effective and sustainable interventions in multi-agency settings.

INFORMATION SERVICE
The Team manage and analyse the information kept on the Division's three main databases, CHAIN, the Clearing House and Broadway's own client monitoring system, BORIS. As well as producing standard periodic reports, the team is responsible for setting up systems to gather and analyse information for research projects and for producing one-off reports when necessary to support Broadway's policy work.

RESEARCH
Broadway's research projects focus on improving and developing services for homeless and vulnerable people. They are aimed at practioners and policy makers with a view to developing effective, quality services and promoting best practice. The team uses a range of methodologies including workshops, focus groups, interviews and surveys.
To increase the quality of our research, people who have experienced homelessness themselves are involved in the design and delivery of projects wherever possible; and research is informed by Broadway's experience of service delivery and of managing information from CHAIN and the Clearing House.

BROADWAY'S VOICE
Homeless people are amongst the most excluded within our society. We have a responsibility to educate and help to eliminate discrimination and prejudice. Broadway recognises that we need to speak for and with individuals. Broadway aims to represent people and provide a forum in which they can speak for themselves. This, we believe, will influence the service we provide and policy at local and national level. Broadway provides a range of services from street to home and has a wealth of knowledge to call upon. We seek to work in partnership with agencies that share our beliefs and who are also striving to make a difference for the people we are seeking to represent.
