Profiles of Senior Management Team

Howard Sinclair - Chief Executive

Howard Sinclair

Chief Executive

I joined Broadway in July 2002 as Chief Executive. Prior to July I had spent the previous 4 years working as Director of Mencap Cymru. Based in Cardiff, my role involved developing and leading Mencap Cymru in all aspects of its campaigning, information and service delivery work.

Other positions within human services have included the post of Planning and Policy Manager for Housing and Social Services in Wrexham, Development Manager for learning disability services in the former Clwyd and time spent as a Training Manager. I have also worked in residential homes for older people, community services for people with learning disabilities and in a psychiatric hospital.

As well as leading the work of the organisation, I am also a Board member of Homeless Link, the umbrella organisation for the Homelessness Sector, having chaired their National Advisory Council for 3 years.  I have developed good relations with policy makers in Central and Local Government, as well as with the sector as a whole.

I enjoy my work here enormously – both in terms of the positive difference we genuinely try to make in people's lives and the creative, committed and skillful people I work with at Broadway.

Helen Giles

Director of Human Resources

I have been working for Broadway since 1986, where I first joined as an administrator. I developed through several different roles - Administration Team Leader, Assistant Director of Central Services, Personnel and Administration Manager before becoming HR Director in 1996 (after receiving support from Broadway to achieve my CIPD professional qualification through our vocational training programme).

I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. I have enjoyed a long career history with Broadway because it has always been such a dynamic place to work, presenting new growth and challenges at all stages of its development, while always being driven by and true to our core values.

Through Broadway's consultancy arm, Broadway Futures, my team and I provide external consultancy and HR support and training services to other organisations. I am passionately committed to promoting and supporting the development of best practice in leadership and people management in the not-for-profit sector.

Mark Grant - Director of Services and Deputy Chief Executive

My career has centred around social needs and my past roles have included the Assistant Manager of the Children’s Unit for Hammersmith and Fulham Social Services, and the Deputy Manager of a direct access project in Vauxhall. I moved into the homelessness sector in 1991, when I joined Centrepoint, first as Deputy Manager in a children’s unit before my role as Care Services Manager.

David Fisher - Head of Outreach and Community Services

Cathryn Oldman

Head of Fundraising & Communications

I decided to join the voluntary sector after graduating in Law from Bristol University. My first job enabled me to gain over four years experience in fundraising and project management with the expedition charity Raleigh International, where I worked in the charity’s youth at risk department. This position also afforded the opportunity to travel and work in developing countries. I joined what was then Riverpoint in July 2001 as Fundraising and Development Manager which has lead onto my current position as Head of Fundraising and Communications at Broadway.
